Sarcoidosis in Croatia: Information and Patient Support

Welcome to the website of the Association of People with Sarcoidosis (UOS) in Croatia. We support people living with sarcoidosis, their families and everyone seeking reliable information.

What is sarcoidosis?

Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease in which small clusters of immune cells, called granulomas, form in different organs. It most often affects the lungs and lymph nodes, but can also involve the eyes, skin, joints, liver, heart or nervous system. Symptoms and the course of the disease vary from person to person.

Cause, diagnosis and care

The exact cause of sarcoidosis is not known. It is not contagious and it is not cancer. Diagnosis and care are guided by qualified healthcare professionals and depend on each person’s symptoms and test results. Some people do not need treatment, while others may need monitoring or treatment. Never start, stop or change prescribed treatment without discussing it with your doctor.

About our association

UOS brings patients and families together, shares experience and educational information, raises awareness of sarcoidosis, connects patients with relevant professionals and advocates for patients’ healthcare and social rights. Our website and patient community grew from the need for clear information and peer support.
