People with sarcoidosis may have additional risk factors for reduced bone strength, including inflammation, limited activity, low vitamin D, age or corticosteroid treatment. Bone health can be assessed with clinical review and, when appropriate, bone-density testing. Weight-bearing activity, adequate nutrition and prescribed treatment may help. Discuss fracture prevention with your clinician, particularly before or during long-term corticosteroid therapy.
