Tietze syndrome and sarcoidosis
A possible cause of severe, stabbing chest pain.
The costochondral junctions of the ribs and the chondrosternal joints of the chest wall can occasionally become inflamed in people with sarcoidosis. This complication, sometimes referred to as Tietze syndrome, can cause intense pain that may spread across the chest.
