Incidence and Mortality in Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is uncommon and its frequency varies between countries, ethnic groups and age groups. Most people have a stable or improving course, but a minority develop serious pulmonary, cardiac, neurological or other organ involvement.

Prognosis depends on the organs affected, disease activity, response to treatment and access to specialist care. Population statistics cannot predict an individual patient’s outcome.
