Corticosteroids and Sarcoidosis
Corticosteroids are commonly used when sarcoidosis causes significant or progressive inflammation. They may improve symptoms and protect organ function, but long-term treatment can cause weight gain, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, infection risk and other side effects.
The dose should be adjusted gradually by a doctor. Never stop corticosteroids suddenly without medical advice.
