Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) can be elevated in some people with sarcoidosis, but it is not specific and cannot confirm or exclude the disease by itself. Doctors interpret ACE together with symptoms, imaging and other tests. ACE should not be used alone to start or change treatment. Ask your clinician what the result means in your individual situation.
